Non living things like hills, rivers etc. also have souls or at least a feeling. They may respond to our external stimulii when we do mining using bulldozers! Science will oneday, I hope will discover.
Krishna was bothered about his being the best among things such as his being a fig tree among trees, falcon among birds, lion among animals (long list) in Chapter 10 Vibhuti Yoga. Gita, beware, can mislead mankind. www.bhagavadgitayb.blogspot.com. The Hindu sages did not apparently recognise that poor humans, and of course horses do not have sacrifices. Hence they participated in killing of a human! www.mahabhagavatayb.blogspot.com. They asked Kausalya, w/o Dasaratha to stab the sacrificial horse with three gold knives. www.ramayanayb.blogspot.com
I believe you are getting a little far ahead of yourself on this one, perhaps because of your heritage. It is not an error on your part in my opinion, however.
Simply spoken, the words quoted are all that is offered. "If you see the soul in every living being, then you see truly."
It is of course up to the individual as to how they would interpret the words, especially in this case "being".
Arguing over what is "right" and what is "wrong" interpretation of a thing, would not get anyone very far, when all that is offered and all that is asked, is to simply appreciate the statement for what it is.
To then go further, and include references to related and unrelated materials further dissolves the point you may be trying to make.
As to non-living things... my personal opinion, is simple - I do not know any non-living thing, for everything I see surrounding me is filled with the essence of life, and is therefore alive.
To take it further, one can invest some time in understanding basic quantum physics and appreciate that everything, at its most basic level consists of energy.
I would love to dwell on this with, however I intend writing more articles relating to this subject. I look forward to your future comments.
