In The Moment Vs. Goals

Being in the moment can seem like a contradictory action when contrasted against setting and attaining a goal. How do you be here, now; but think and project there and then?

This is something I've dwelt upon in the past and I'm at peace with now. Many are not. The path to knowing yourself isnt exactly textbook for us all, or we would all be at the library checking out the same title. Although dichotomy and paradox can seem to be constant bedfellows in your journey to insight, these two seeming contradictory notions can live happily side by side in your life as it is.

There is no real formula or solution that can make this work for everyone other than acceptance. Simply accepting that you can be in the moment, live and revel in-the-now, and happily have goals is the only real remedy.

I could write a lot more, be more prosaic and take a longer path in helping see this, but it is a very simple matter of accepting yourself as you are. You are human, you try to be present in the present and you should and can have goals, all at the same time.

There is no one size fits all and perhaps the biggest challenge in life is not accepting the little dichotomies of the universe, but rather coming to see that we in the Western world, live in a society that attempts to program us to accept that one size does fit all!

If you are able to overcome that notion and will yourself away from a society based on conformity, accept that your own ideas are valid and that your path is the right path regardless of how it may differ from others; then you have done yourself a truly great service in walking your own righteous path to becoming who you are.

Blessings

Thanks for the encouragement. It comes at a good time for me, and I hope a good time for you.

It is often a struggle to forge one's own path, especially in a culture that encourages differences, so long as those differences fit the accepted standard of "different."
